Controller drift repair in Sydney: PS5, Xbox, Switch Pro
Your character creeps forward and the camera wanders on its own. That is not a settings problem, it is a worn analog stick module, and no amount of recalibrating fixes worn hardware. We replace the module on the bench here in Sydney, with no waiting on postage: free diagnosis, fixed quote, no fix no fee.
Controllers we fix for drift
PS5 DualSense drift
The most common drift job on our bench. Worn stick modules are replaced with new units, or upgraded to Hall effect if you want it fixed for good.
MOST COMMONmodule swap
Xbox Series controller drift
Same wear, same fix. Left or right stick replaced, tested against a full range and centre test before it goes back to you.

Switch Pro and Joy Con drift
Joy Con sticks are notorious for it. We replace both Pro Controller and Joy Con modules, and handle Switch console repairs too.

Buttons and triggers
Mushy face buttons, double-registering bumpers, adaptive triggers that lost their resistance. Often fixed in the same visit as a stick job.

Charge ports on controllers
A controller that only charges at an angle or not at all usually has a worn or damaged USB port. Replaced at board level on the bench.

Standard module swap or Hall effect upgrade
Drift happens because standard sticks read position through resistive tracks that physically wear down. A like-for-like module replacement restores factory feel, but the new module is the same design, so heavy use can wear it again in time. Hall effect sticks read position magnetically with no contact parts, so they do not wear the same way: fit them once and drift is off the table.
Standard module swap
Cheapest fix, exact factory feel, back to new condition. The honest catch: the replacement is the same wearing design, so a hard-driven controller can drift again down the track.
Hall effect upgrade
A permanent fix for drift. Costs a bit more and the sticks feel slightly different under the thumb, which most players adjust to within a session or two.
We help you pick
At the free diagnosis we check the whole controller, quote both options where available for your model, and you choose. No fix, no fee either way.
Drift is only one of the faults we see across consoles and their accessories. If the console itself is playing up too, our console repair service covers PS5, Xbox and Switch on the same bench.
Our prices
Both sticks replaced, not just the one that drifts, so the pair wears evenly.
Fitted prices: parts, labour and our workmanship warranty included. Free diagnosis first, your fixed quote before any work, and no fix means no fee.
Controller drift questions
How much does controller drift repair cost?
Across Sydney a standard stick module replacement commonly runs between about $50 and $90 per controller, and Hall effect upgrades a bit more because the parts cost more. Diagnosis is free, you get a fixed quote before any work starts, and if we cannot fix it you pay nothing.
What causes analog stick drift?
Standard sticks measure position with small resistive tracks inside the module. Those tracks wear down with use, and dust and grime speed it up, so the controller starts reporting movement you are not making. It is mechanical wear inside the stick module, which is why recalibrating, resetting or updating firmware rarely fixes it for long.
Are Hall effect sticks worth it?
If you have already had drift once, usually yes. Hall effect sticks sense position magnetically with no contact tracks to wear out, so they do not develop drift the same way. The trade-offs are a slightly higher price and a subtly different feel under the thumb, which most people stop noticing within a session or two.
How long does a controller repair take?
Most stick module replacements are same day or next day once the controller is on the bench, since it is a compact job we do often. We confirm the timeframe with your fixed quote at the free diagnosis.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a drifting controller?
Usually repair. A new DualSense or Xbox Series controller costs more than a typical stick module replacement, and a repaired controller keeps your existing pairing, grips and any customisation. If the controller has multiple faults and repair would approach the price of a new one, we tell you at the free diagnosis so you can choose.
