Micro-soldering and logic board repair in Sydney

When a shop says "buy a new one", the fault is usually one component on the board. That is exactly the work this bench does: microscope, hot air, schematics, and a free diagnosis before you spend a cent.

Common board-level jobs

Charge IC failures

Phone will not charge on any cable or charger. The charging chip on the board has failed and gets replaced, not the port.

VERY COMMONdata untouched

Backlight circuits

Screen looks dark but the phone still rings and you can see a faint image under a torch. A backlight filter or driver has blown.

FIXABLEnot a screen swap

Broken traces

A drop or bend can crack the copper tracks inside the board. We find the break under the microscope and run a repair wire.

DIAGNOSIS FIRSTquoted after testing

Connector rework

Torn flex connectors from a rough disassembly or a hard knock. The damaged connector is desoldered and a new one fitted to the pads.

PRECISION JOBpads repaired if needed

Liquid corrosion repair

Liquid keeps eating the board long after it dries. We strip, clean and repair the corroded areas. What to do right after liquid damage.

TIME MATTERSsooner = better odds

Dead devices, data needed

Device is beyond saving but the photos are not. Board repair to boot it once, or a memory transfer. Dead phone data recovery.

What micro-soldering actually is

Everyday phone repair swaps whole parts: a screen, a battery, a housing. Micro-soldering works one level deeper, on the components soldered to the logic board itself.

Microscope and hot air

The components involved can be smaller than a grain of rice. Every job runs under the microscope, with hot air and fine-tipped irons rated for board work.

Diagnosis with schematics

We trace the fault on the board's schematics and confirm it with measurements, so we replace the component that failed instead of guessing at parts.

Why kiosks do not offer it

It needs equipment, schematics and years of practice that a parts-swap counter does not carry. That is why "cannot be fixed" so often just means "not here".

The same bench handles console board work, because an HDMI port replacement is micro-soldering too. The PS5 HDMI port repair is the classic example: port off, pads cleaned, new port on, all under the microscope. Whatever the device, the process is the same: free diagnosis, a fixed quote before any work, and no fix no fee.

Micro-soldering questions

What is micro soldering?

Micro-soldering is repair work on the individual components of a circuit board, done under a microscope with hot air and fine-tipped irons. Instead of swapping the whole board, we replace the one chip, connector or trace that failed. It is how faults like a dead charge IC or a broken backlight circuit get fixed for a fraction of a board replacement, and your data stays where it is.

Can a phone motherboard be repaired instead of replaced?

Usually, yes. Most motherboard faults come down to one failed component or a damaged trace, not the whole board. Repairing at component level costs less than a replacement board and keeps your data, because the memory chips stay on your original board. Diagnosis is free, so you find out exactly what failed before deciding anything.

Why won't my phone turn on after a drop?

An impact can crack solder joints under a chip, tear a flex connector off its pads, or break a trace in the board itself. The phone looks fine from outside but the circuit is open somewhere. That is a board-level diagnosis job: we test the board under the microscope, find the break, and quote the repair. The diagnosis costs you nothing.

How much does logic board repair cost?

Board-level jobs are quoted per job after the free diagnosis, because no two faults are the same. As a guide, common board repairs across Sydney typically run somewhere between about $150 and $400. You get a fixed quote before any work starts, and if we cannot fix it you pay nothing.

Do board level repairs come with a warranty?

Yes. Our workmanship and the parts we fit are warranted. The one honest caveat is liquid damage: corrosion can keep spreading inside a board after a repair, so we tell you upfront at quote time what is covered on your specific job rather than promising something we cannot stand behind.

Told it cannot be fixed? Ask the bench that fixes boards.

Tell us the device and what it is doing. Diagnosis is free, the quote is fixed, and if we cannot fix it you pay nothing.
